Unicamente La Verdad: La Verdadera Historia de Camelia La Texana

The opera investigates the creation of a popular myth through the media and is also a painful account of the harsh reality of drug trafficking and migration in northern Mexico.

The title of the work was borrowed from a subtitle of the tabloid Alarma!, a newspaper that punctually reported for decades stories of extraterrestrial sightings, testimonies of “werewolves,” and all kinds of bloody events, accompanied by graphic photographs.

The libretto of the opera emanates entirely from literal quotes found in publications, blogs, interviews, and television testimonies that contradict each other and are unable to establish a single version of reality.
